Psychiatric Assessment
During our first appointment, I will gather history, evaluate symptoms and together we will develop a treatment plan.
I will ask questions about:
- your history of symptoms
- your history of mental health treatment ie. psychotherapy, psychiatric medication, hospitalizations
- medical illnesses, medications
- family and social/educational/occupational history
- substance use history
Based on the evaluation, a diagnosis is formed and treatment options are presented. If medication is indicated, I will explain why a medication is being prescribed, potential side effects and risks/benefits of the treatment. If psychotherapy is indicated, a referral to a therapist will be provided.
The fee for the initial psychiatric assessment is $390.
Medication
- At the conclusion of the initial evaluation, if medication is indicated, medications will be electronically ordered to your pharmacy.
- Depending on the condition/illness, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, stimulants, benzodiazepines, sleep aids or other psychotropic medications may be prescribed.
- Follow-up appointments can vary from weekly to monthly or longer for established patients. The purpose of these sessions, also called medication management, is to evaluate your response to medication and make adjustments as needed.
The fee for medication management is $210.
